Get ready for vibrant flavor! Baked Cajun Salmon features a fiery spice rub balanced by cool, diced avocado. Simple 400°F oven cooking delivers flaky perfection.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning blend
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 ripe avocados, diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Step 2: Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with a paper towel. Rub each fillet evenly with the olive oil, then generously coat all sides with the Cajun seasoning and kosher salt. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Step 3: Bake the salmon for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork (the internal temperature should reach 145°F).
  4. Step 4: While the salmon bakes, prepare the topping. In a small bowl, gently combine the diced avocados, fresh lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Toss lightly to coat.
  5. Step 5: Remove the baked salmon from the oven. Spoon the fresh avocado mixture evenly over the top of each hot fillet and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For leftovers, store the cooked salmon separately from the avocado topping; the topping will brown quickly once mixed, even in the fridge.
  • To reheat leftover salmon without drying it out, use a low oven temperature (300°F) for about 8-10 minutes, then add fresh avocado topping once warmed.
  • Pair this rich, spicy dish with a simple, cooling side like coconut-lime rice or a crisp cucumber and corn salad.
  • Ensure your salmon fillets are completely patted dry before oiling and seasoning; this creates a better crust and helps the Cajun spice adhere fully during baking.
