Delicious bang bang broccoli salad recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Steam or blanch the broccoli florets until tender-crisp (about 5-7 minutes). Immediately rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process and maintain their vibrant green color. Drain thoroughly.
  2. Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame oil until well combined and smooth. This is your Bang Bang sauce.
  3. Step 3: In a large bowl, combine the drained broccoli florets and the Bang Bang sauce. Toss gently to coat the broccoli evenly.
  4. Step 4: Add the chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds to the broccoli salad. Toss gently to distribute them throughout.
  5. Step 5: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. This will also allow the broccoli to absorb more of the sauce. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • For best flavor, let the salad chill for at least an hour – or even overnight – so the broccoli really soaks up that delicious sauce.
  • This salad is best served cold, but if you must reheat, do so gently in the microwave in short bursts to prevent the broccoli from becoming mushy.
  • Serve this Bang Bang Broccoli Salad as a vibrant side dish, or pile it high on lettuce cups for a light and flavorful lunch.
  • Toast the sesame seeds just before adding them for maximum nutty flavor and a delightful crunch in every bite.
