Crispy, golden pan-fried chicken meets the iconic creamy, spicy-sweet Bang Bang sauce! This quick bowl is pure comfort food over fluffy rice. Full instructions and nutritional facts inside.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 12 tbsp Sriracha (adjust to preference)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the chicken and base. Cook the white rice according to package directions. While the rice cooks, pat the chicken pieces dry and toss them in a bowl with the cornstarch until they are lightly and evenly coated.
  2. Step 2: Cook the Bang Bang Chicken. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally, until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Step 3: Whisk the Bang Bang sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha until the sauce is smooth and fully combined.
  4. Step 4: Coat the chicken. Gently toss the cooked chicken pieces in the prepared Bang Bang sauce until they are completely coated. Ensure the sauce adheres evenly to all surfaces.
  5. Step 5: Assemble the bowls. Divide the cooked white rice among serving bowls. Top the rice with the sauced Bang Bang Chicken and garnish generously with the freshly chopped green onions before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For best results and maximum crispiness, store any leftover sauced chicken and cooked rice separately in airtight containers for up to three days.
  • If reheating, use an air fryer or an oven set to 350°F for about 8 minutes to revive the crispy exterior, giving the bowl a quick drizzle of fresh sauce afterward if needed.
  • Elevate your bowl by adding a fresh textural element like shredded cucumber or a quick slaw made with vinegar and cabbage to cut through the richness of the Bang Bang sauce.
  • The secret to truly balanced "Bang Bang" flavor is always tasting the sauce mixture first, adding the Sriracha in small increments until the heat level is perfect for your palate.
