Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 cups pre-cooked, shredded chicken breast
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your preferred style)
- 4 cups pre-shredded coleslaw mix (cabbage and carrots)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 6 large flour tortillas
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the BBQ Chicken filling by combining the shredded chicken and BBQ sauce in a medium saucepan. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is thoroughly warmed through. Set aside.
- Step 2: Prepare the Coleslaw Dressing by whisking together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until smooth. Season lightly with salt and pepper if desired.
- Step 3: Add the shredded coleslaw mix to the dressing bowl and toss thoroughly until all the cabbage and carrots are evenly coated. If using, stir in the fresh cilantro.
- Step 4: Warm the tortillas according to package directions (microwave for 15-20 seconds each or briefly heat in a dry skillet). Lay a tortilla flat and spoon a generous line of the warm BBQ chicken mixture down the center.
- Step 5: Top the chicken with a portion of the prepared coleslaw. Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then tightly roll from the bottom up to create a wrap. Serve immediately.
Notes
- To maintain maximum freshness and crunch, always store the BBQ chicken filling and the dressed coleslaw separately, assembling only the number of wraps you plan to eat immediately.
- Leftover BBQ chicken filling reheats beautifully; simply warm it in the microwave or a skillet until piping hot, but keep the coleslaw chilled for necessary textural contrast.
- These wraps are rich, so try serving them with a small side of dill pickle slices or a few jalapeños layered inside for a welcome burst of briny, acidic contrast.
- Chef’s Tip: For a subtle flavor lift, add 1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika or a dash of hot sauce to the BBQ chicken mixture while it warms.
