Ingredients
- Beef Sirloin, thinly sliced: 1 pound
- Broccoli florets: 4 cups
- Soy sauce: 1/4 cup
- Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated: 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil: 1 tablespoon
Instructions
- Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Set aside.
- Step 2: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Step 3: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until slightly tender-crisp. Add a tablespoon of water if needed to help steam the broccoli.
- Step 4: Pour the soy sauce mixture into the skillet with the broccoli and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Step 5: Return the cooked beef to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for another minute, until the beef is heated through.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or broth if the sauce has thickened too much.
- Serve over steamed rice or quinoa for a complete and satisfying meal.
- For extra tender beef, marinate it in a mixture of 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of water for 15 minutes before cooking.
