Delicious caramel chocolate chip cookie bars recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 1 3/4 cups
  • Baking soda: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter, softened: 1/2 cup (1 stick)
  • Brown sugar, packed: 3/4 cup
  • Granulated sugar: 1/4 cup
  • Egg: 1 large
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Chocolate chips: 1 cup
  • Soft caramel squares, unwrapped and halved: 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Step 3: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Step 4: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Step 5: Press half of the dough into the prepared baking pan. Arrange the halved caramel squares evenly over the dough. Crumble the remaining dough over the caramel.
  6. Step 6: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to keep them soft and chewy.
  • For a melty caramel experience, warm individual bars in the microwave for 10-15 seconds before serving.
  • Serve these bars slightly warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra decadent treat.
  • Chef's tip: Chill the dough for 30 minutes before pressing into the pan to make it easier to handle and prevent excessive spreading during baking.
