Delicious cinnamon sugar donut bread recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar topping)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, gently whisk together the buttermilk and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Step 4: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Step 5: While the bread is still warm, combine the 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon in a shallow dish. Invert the bread onto a wire rack and immediately dust the top generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Let cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Store leftover Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
  • For a warm, gooey treat, reheat slices briefly in the microwave or toaster oven until heated through.
  • Serve this bread alongside a cup of strong coffee or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful breakfast or dessert.
  • To prevent a dense loaf, avoid overmixing the batter; mix only until the ingredients are just combined.
