Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (4 oz) crispy chicken cutlets or tenders, cooked
- 2 ciabatta rolls or submarine rolls, split
- 4 tablespoons creamy Caesar dressing
- 1 cup chopped Romaine lettuce
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup garlic and herb croutons, coarsely crushed
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional, for spreading)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven or air fryer as necessary, and cook the crispy chicken cutlets according to package directions until they are hot and fully crispy; set aside.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine the chopped Romaine lettuce, shredded Parmesan cheese, and 3 tablespoons of the Caesar dressing. Toss thoroughly until the lettuce is evenly coated.
- Step 3: Prepare the rolls by lightly toasting or grilling the split sides. Spread the optional mayonnaise thinly on the top and bottom halves of the rolls, and drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon of Caesar dressing onto the bottom roll.
- Step 4: Lay the warm crispy chicken cutlets onto the bottom half of the prepared rolls. Season the chicken lightly with salt and pepper.
- Step 5: Sprinkle the coarsely crushed croutons directly into the Caesar salad mixture from Step 2, toss quickly to combine the crunch, then spoon the mixture generously over the chicken cutlets. Place the top roll on immediately and serve the Crunchy Chicken Caesar Sandwich whole or sliced in half.
Notes
- Store leftover chicken and the Caesar salad mix in separate containers; assemble immediately before eating to guarantee maximum crunch and prevent soggy rolls.
- If reheating leftover chicken, a quick trip in the air fryer or oven at 350°F (175°C) will revive the crust and restore its essential crispiness.
- Balance the richness of the dressing and fried chicken by serving the sandwich alongside simple sides like salt and vinegar chips or chilled pickles.
- To achieve the best texture, crush the garlic and herb croutons coarsely, not into fine dust, ensuring noticeable, jagged pieces in every bite.
