Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, bourbon, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and garlic powder.
- Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Step 3: Pour the bourbon sauce over the chicken and bring to a simmer.
- Step 4: Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and glazed the chicken. Stir occasionally.
- Step 5: Serve immediately over rice. Garnish with green onions if desired.
Notes
- Store leftover bourbon chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water or chicken broth if the sauce is too thick.
- Serve this sweet and savory chicken over a bed of fluffy jasmine rice or alongside roasted broccoli for a complete meal.
- For a richer flavor, marinate the chicken in half of the bourbon sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
