Ingredients
- Ground turkey: 1 pound
- Uncooked white rice (Jasmine or Basmati): 1 cup
- Mayonnaise: 1/2 cup
- Sweet chili sauce: 1/4 cup
- Low sodium soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Sriracha: 1 tablespoon (or to taste)
- Garlic, minced: 2 cloves
- Sesame oil: 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook 1 cup of rice according to package directions. While the rice cooks, prepare the Bang Bang Sauce by whisking together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha in a small bowl until fully combined; set aside.
- Step 2: Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until the meat is thoroughly browned and no longer pink (approximately 6-8 minutes). Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
- Step 3: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the minced garlic and soy sauce to the cooked turkey. Stir constantly for 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant.
- Step 4: Pour half of the prepared Bang Bang Sauce over the turkey mixture and stir well until the meat is fully coated and heated through. Remove the skillet from the heat.
- Step 5: Assemble the bowls by dividing the cooked rice among serving bowls. Top the rice generously with the sauced ground turkey mixture. Drizzle the remaining Bang Bang Sauce over the bowls and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- Keep the leftover sauced turkey and the rice stored separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to prevent the rice from getting soggy.
- For best results, gently reheat the turkey mixture in a skillet or the microwave until warm, adding a splash of water or broth if it seems dry, but avoid high heat to prevent the mayo-based sauce from breaking.
- To cut the richness of the Bang Bang Sauce, serve the finished bowls topped with quick-pickled cucumbers, shredded carrots, or a handful of fresh chopped cilantro.
- Before moving to Step 3, ensure you fully drain the fat from the ground turkey; residual grease will dilute the final flavor and prevent the garlic and soy sauce from properly seasoning the meat.
