- 6–8 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter, cut into cubes
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and cinnamon. Toss to coat and spread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Step 4: Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Step 5: Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the apples.
- Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Leftover apple crisp can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, or until warmed through.
- A scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream complements the warm apple crisp perfectly!
- For extra flavor, try using a mix of apple varieties like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.
