Velvety burrata meets fiery, low-simmered hot honey infused with chili flakes and a whisper of apple cider vinegar. This five-minute appetizer offers instant sophistication.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ball (8 oz) Burrata cheese
  • 1/4 cup quality Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (or chili flakes), plus more for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon Apple cider vinegar (optional, to balance the sweetness)
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • 1 small Baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Hot Honey mixture by combining the honey, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar (if using) in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the honey is runny and the flakes have infused; do not boil. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the serving dish. Drain the Burrata ball gently and place it whole in the center of a shallow serving bowl or plate.
  3. Step 3: Lightly toast the sliced baguette pieces. Brush the bread slices with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and toast them in a 350°F (175°C) oven or toaster until lightly golden, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
  4. Step 4: Assemble the dish by drizzling the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the burrata cheese. Then, spoon or pour the warm hot honey mixture generously over the top of the burrata.
  5. Step 5: Finish and serve immediately. Sprinkle the dish with a pinch of flaky sea salt and a few extra red pepper flakes for visual appeal. Serve the burrata alongside the toasted baguette slices for dipping and spreading.

Notes

  • Store any unused hot honey separately in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a month; the assembled burrata dish should be enjoyed immediately as the cheese does not store well.
  • If you are saving the leftover honey, gently warm it in a saucepan or microwave for 10-15 seconds until runny again before its next use, making sure it is warm but never boiling.
  • Allow the hot honey mixture to infuse off the heat for 15-20 minutes before pouring it over the burrata; this extra time deepens the chili flavor without making the honey taste cooked.
  • For a delicious textural contrast, scatter a few toasted, chopped pistachios or walnuts over the dish just before serving alongside the toasted baguette.
